Click here to go to my scheduling page where you will find a link to schedule a free 10-minute introductory phone call, which is a time for you to ask any questions you may have and for us to see if we may be a good fit to work together. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Good question! Mostly, they mean I enjoy learning new things!

M.Div. = Master of Divinity degree
MAMFT = Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy

I was a congregational minister prior to returning to school to become a therapist. I do not provide religious-based therapy, but I do bring an understanding of organizational systems, spiritual formation and identity throughout the life cycle, faith deconstruction and reconstruction, and religious/spiritual trauma and church hurt to my work as a therapist—and am comfortable talking about any or all of these as part of your therapy, if desired.

  • You can schedule a free 10-minute phone consultation at your convenience by clicking here. This is a time when you can ask any questions you may have before getting started and where we can both make sure we feel like working together is a good fit—because you deserve that on your healing journey!

  • When you arrive, you can come on into the waiting room, and I will come and get you at your appointment time.

At your first appointment we will spend a few moments answering any questions you have about therapy or the intake/informed consent paperwork. The remaining time is for you to share what brings you to therapy and your goals for our time together. If this feels daunting, please know that I will ask questions to help get you started—and you are welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable!

  • Yes! If it is difficult for you to make it to the office in-person because you live outside of Louisville or because you have a busy work/life schedule, I am happy to offer telehealth services. Please note that due to licensing and telehealth laws, you must be physically in KY at the time of your therapy sessions.

  • Professional ethics and Kentucky State law gives clients control over their confidential information. This means that, as a general rule, information shared in therapy session will be held in confidence.

There are some exceptions to this general rule:

    (1) In the case of an emergency where I believe your are at risk of hurting yourself or another person, I may need to contact emergency services or other person/entity in order to keep you and/or the other person safe.

    (2) Kentucky state law requires that child, elder, or disabled adult abuse or neglect in any form be reported to the Department of Human Services or other appropriate agency.

    (3) If I am subpoenaed to court I may be required to disclose some confidential information.

    (4) As a Marriage & Family Therapist Associate I work with a clinical supervisor as part of my work towards full licensure as a Marriage & Family Therapist. I regularly consult on cases with my supervisor while making every effort to protect any information that would identify you. My supervisor is bound to the same level of confidentiality as I am.

I will review confidentiality and answer any questions you may have in our first session.

  • As a Marriage & Family Therapist Associate, I am working toward full licensure in the state of Kentucky, which includes completing 1,000 hours of clinical experience and regular consultation with a licensed supervisor.

I have completed a Master of Arts degree in Marriage & Family Therapy (MAMFT), including hundreds of clinical hours during two years of practicum as a student—I received systemic training to work from a holistic perspective with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I have passed the Marriage & Family Therapy National Examination. I am a lifelong learner, and since joining The Mindfulness Center as a therapist, I continue to hone skills and gain new experience through supervision meetings, continuing education hours (CEs), and other trainings.

  • First sessions are typically $180 for 75-minutes. This gives us time to go over any questions you may have about therapy with additional time for you to share what brings you to therapy and what you hope to work on in therapy. Follow-up sessions are $120 for 50-minutes.

Because I am a Marriage & Family Therapist Associate working toward full licensure, I do not accept insurance and am not able to provide superbills/out-of-network benefits. Not contracting with insurance companies also increases your privacy, because insurance billing requires a mental health diagnosis that becomes a part of your medical record.

You CAN use your HSA/FSA card to pay for services if your insurance plan offers these. If the cost of therapy is prohibitive, please ask if I have reduced-fee spots available.

  • Your commitment to therapy is important for meeting your goals, and your appointment time has been reserved just for you. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please do so 24-hours before the appointment time. Missed appointments or cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will incur a fee of $75 the first time and full-fee for subsequent times.

  • I try my best to schedule current clients as soon as possible if they are experiencing heightened mental health symptoms, but as an outpatient therapist, I am not available 24/7 for crisis situations.

If you experience a crisis or emergency, you may obtain immediate assistance by calling the Seven Counties Services Crisis Hotline at 502-589-4313 (Louisville and surrounding counties), calling 988 (the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), calling 911, or by going to your local hospital emergency room. Additional resources are also available on the “resources” page here.
